SUBJECT: Approve Activities Relating to a Grand Opening Event on Saturday, August 16, For
The Journey Emporium, 230 First Avenue East(F)
Action Sought
One Sexy Biker Chick, owner of For The Journey Emporium, a new retail site in downtown
Shakopee, is having a grand opening party on August 16, 2014 from 10:30 am to 7:00 pm.
Council is asked to approve the requested road closure on First Avenue from Lewis Street to
Sommerville. Ordinance No. 5.092 will need to be suspended for the duration of this event.
One Sexy Biker Chick has hired an officer from the Shakopee Police Department to work during
this event. The officer will be on site from 11:00 am to 5:00 pm to assist with traffic control and
motorcycle parking on First Avenue between Lewis and Sommerville Streets.
One Sexy Biker Chick will also have a acoustic band playing approximately from 2:00 pm to 4:00
pm. The owner, Innesa Hansen, has spoken with area businesses and the nearby apartment
manager and no major concerns have arisen from the planned event. Food will be supplied from
local area businesses as there will be a tent containing food and beer.
The American Legion has applied for a temporary liquor license for August 16, 2014. They will
be providing beer sales for One Sexy Biker Chick Grand Opening. American Legion will be
selling the beer from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm. . Their application is in order and there is no problem
with approving the license. Proceeds from this event will be going to the CAP Agency.
There are no conflicting events at Huber Park on this date.

Recommended Action
Approve road closures for August 16th Grand Opening for One Sexy Biker Chick For The
Journey Emporium. Suspend Ordinance. 5. 092 allowing consumption of alcoholic beverages in
non glass containers on First Avenue. Approve the Temporary 3.2 Percent Malt Liquor License
