Background
On April 24, 2014 the Shakopee Police Department was notified by the Department of Justice
that it was eligible to apply for grant funding in the amount of$10,912. The grant award is based
on the local crime rate. Shakopee is one of many communities throughout the state eligible for
this funding. The grant application was submitted in early June and is in a pending status.
The funding provided by this grant will be used to improve the department's capabilities to

by ridding the work area of noxious fumes and odors. Under the terms of the grant, public
notification of the grant application has been posted on the city's website and Council is asked to
authorize the application.
