Ski AKOPI TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator DATE: 06/17/2014 SUBJECT: Adoption of City Council Overarching Goals, Nos. 4 and 5 (F) REVISED Action Sought For the Council to adopt two additional overarching organizational goals for the City. Background In February, the City Council adopted the following overarching organizational goals for the City: 1. Foster the creation of the unique history downtown corridor as a destination for economic viability and livability. 2. Follow consistent practices for consideration of economic incentives to provide opportunities to work in Shakopee. (NOTE, THIS WAS NOT ADOPTED FOLLOWING THE MARCH 4TH WORKSHOP MEETING.) 3. Plan for and adequately fund infrastructure and asset needs. On June 3rd, the Council met again to consider other goals. After discussion, the following two were proposed: 4. Create or ame 14571., Q in language, and are accessible to all. 5. Create efficie: •aining, which expects continuous improvement omer service. Recommendation I recommend that tl 3, it meets the first of the Council's targets for special F � ; overarching goals to be adopted by July. Budget Impact None. Relationship To Visioning This is a housekeeping item. Requested Action If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, adopt the following two additional overarching organizational goals: 2. Follow consistent practices for consideration of economic incentives to provide opportunities to work in Shakopee. 4. Create or amend City documents that are concise, use plain language, and are accessible to all. 5. Create efficiencies through a culture of technology and training, which expects continuous improvements and no less than the highest levels of customer service. Attachments:
