TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator
DATE: 06/03/2014
SUBJECT: Review of Idea Box Goals
Introduction
For the Council to review and consider action on Idea Box Goals.
Background
At the beginning of the year,Mayor Tabke asked the Communications Coordinator to create a form on the City's
website where the public can submit ideas and goals for the City Council's consideration. The"Idea Box" asks
three questions:
1. What goals do you have for the City of Shakopee?
2. What City Department do you think can best fulfill this goal?
3.By when?
Submitters are also asked to include their name and email address for potential follow-up. Paper copies of the Idea
Box form are also available at City Hall.
Since the Idea Box was created, more than 40 ideas have been submitted. Most are single ideas;others include
multiple suggestions. The ideas are logged with acknowledgments sent to the writers.
Periodically, these ideas will be provided to the City Council. However, as the Council will be adding to its own
overarching goals,Councilors may wish to review and consider the suggestions contained in the Idea Box before
beginning their deliberations.
Action Required
Consider, and discuss as appropriate.
