SHAKOPE TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Mike Hullander, Public Works Superintendent DATE: 05/20/2014 SUBJECT: Purchase of Small Motor Grader (E) Action Sought Motion to approve the purchase of one new Motor Grader for the price of $134,110.00 including trade from Ziegler Inc. with the funding to be expended from the Capital Equipment Internal Service Fund. Background The 2014 Capital Equipment Budget includes a request from Public Works to replace the 1993 Gehl 747B Motor Grader, asset # 343; vehicle #123. Staff included a budget estimate for this purchase of $155,000.00. The grader is used for maintaining gravel alley's, roads, road shoulders and ball fields. The current motor grader is no longer in production and many parts are no longer available. Staff is recommending to purchase a Noram 65E Motor Grader from Ziegler Inc. for the price of $134,110.00 including trade in of the existing grader, for $11,750 and deductions of $10,200. The base price of this grader is $156,060. Staff will be using State Contract Pricing # 64159 for this purchase. Recommendation Staff recommends the purchase. Budget Impact Funds have been allocated and will be expended in the 2014 Capital Equipment fund. Relationship to Vision E. Deliver effective and efficient public services by a staff of well- trained caring and professional employees.
