CITY OF SHAKOPEE
Memorandum
TO: Mayor & City Council
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: Bruce Loney, Public Works Director
SUBJECT: Approving a Resolution of Concurrence with
Scott County Resolution No. 2007-161 Revoking a Portion of
County State Aid Highway No. 16; and a Resolution of Concurrence with
Scott County Resolution No. 2007-163 Designating a Portion of County
State Aid Highway No. 16 (17th Avenue)
DATE: December 18, 2007
INTRODUCTION:
Attached is Resolution No. 6704 and Resolution No. 6705, which are resolutions of
concurrence with Scott County's resolutions revoking a portion of CSAH 16, from
CSAH 17 to CSAH 83, and designating a portion of CSAH 16 (17th Avenue).
BACKGROUND:
Previously, the City of Shakopee and Scott County approved a Memorandum of
Understanding for Highway jurisdictional exchange for CSAH 16 (Eagle Creek
Boulevard), from CSAH 17 to CSAH 83 to the City of Shakopee and transferring
jurisdiction of 17th Avenue, from CSAH 15 to CSAH 83 to Scott County. As a follow-up
to that action and to make the necessary State Aid revisions, two follow-up resolutions of
concurrence with Scott County resolutions are required by the Municipal State Aid
System.
Attached are Resolution No.6704 and Resolution No. 6705, which are resolutions of
concurrence with previous Scott County resolutions that have been adopted on revoking a
portion of CSAH 16 and designating another portion as CSAH 16 (17 Avenue). By
adopting these resolutions, Scott County will be able to revise its highway system to the
Mn/DOT State Aid Office.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Approve Resolution No. 6704 and Resolution No. 6705 of concurrence with Scott
County Resolution No. 2007-161 and 2007-163, revoking and designating a
portion of CSAH 16.
2. Do not approve Resolution No. 6704 and Resolution No. 6705.
3. Table for additional information.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff would recommend Alternative No. 1, in order to allow Scott County to make State
Aid System revisions.
ACTION REQUESTED:
Offer Resolution No. 6704, a Resolution of Concurrence with Scott County Resolution
No. 2007-163, Designating a Portion of County State Aid Highway No. 16 (17~' Avenue)
and move its adoption.
Offer Resolution No. 6705, A Resolution of Concurrence with Scott County Resolution
No. 2007-160, Revoking a Portion of County State Aid Highway No. 16 and move its
adoption.
