Memorandum
CASE NO.:
~
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council ~ ~ffi
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: R. Michael Leek, Community Development Director
SUBJECT: Amendment to City Code Sec. 11.62, Subd. 3, K
MEETING DATE: December 11, 2007
REVIEW PERIOD: NA
INTRODUCTION:
Inspection staff identified that the current provision of the Code left open the possibility that a
driveway with a 15% grade could meet a street grade of up to 10%, which is not a desirable
situation. To address that possibility, staff suggests a minor revision that would 1) reduce the
_ maximum driveway grade, but 2) provide for some discretion by allowing City Engineer discretion
to approve an alternate grade.
ALTERNATIVES:
1. Offer and approve Ordinance No. 789, An Ordinance Amending City Code Sec. 11.62, Subd. 3,
K Regarding Driveway Grades as presented.
2. Offer and approve Ordinance No. 789, An Ordinance Amending City Code Sec. 11.62, Subd. 3,
K Regarding Driveway Grades with revisions.
3. Table the matter for additional information.
PLANNING COMMISSION RECOMMENDATION:
The Planning Commission reviewed the proposed text amendment at its December 6, 2007 meeting,
and recommended approval unanimously.
ACTION REQUESTED:
Offer and approve Ordinance No. 789, An Ordinance Amending City Code Sec. 11.62, Subd. 3, K
