No. 6671 CITY OF SHAKOPEE Police Department Memorandum S, D. /# TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator cor~SEf~T FROM: Captain Craig Robson SUBJECT: Request to accept Target donation by Resolution No. 6671 DATE: October 16, 2007 INTRODUCTION: The Shakopee Police Department is offering Resolution No. 6671, to accept the donation of 4 gently used Dell computers and 4 monitors from Target. BACKGROUND: Target is committed to partnering with the public sector through their Target and Blue program, a program that actively supports law enforcement agencies to build stronger, safer communities. Target has donated 4 gently used Dell computers and 4 monitors to the Shakopee Police Department. Our IT Department has evaluated the computers and considers them acceptable for use on our network. Our implementation plan is to deploy the majority of the computers in the Emergency Operation Center (EOC). VISIONING RELATIONSHIP This action supports: Goal B: High Quality of Life Strategy 6: Provide high quality services Strategy 10: Ensure City's fiscal health AL TERNA TIVES; 1. Offer Resolution No. 6671. 2. Do not offer Resolution No. 6671. 3. Table and provide direction to staff. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends alternative #1. 1 ACTION REQUESTED: . If council concurs, offer Resolution No. 6671, A Resolution of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota, Accepting Four Dell Computers and Four Monitors from Target, and move its adoption. 2 RESOLUTION NO. 6671 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF FOUR DELL COMPUTERS AND FOUR MONITORS FROM TARGET. WHEREAS, on November 6,2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5794, which established procedure relating to the receipt of gifts and donations by the City; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5794 specifies that donations valued over $1,000 shall be accepted by resolution of the City Council, and shall require a two-thirds majority of the City Council for acceptance; and WHEREAS, Target is committed to partnering with the public sector through their Target and Blue program, a program that actively supports law enforcement agencies to build stronger, safer communities; and WHEREAS, Target has graciously donated four gently used Dell computers and four monitors to the Shakopee Police Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the donation of four gently used Dell Computers and four monitors from Target is gratefully accepted. FURTHER, that City staff is directed to send a letter to the donor, acknowledging receipt of the gift and expressing the appreciation of the City Council.
