CONSENT CITY OF SHAKO PEE Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Kyle Sobota, Planner I SUBJECT: Fall Festival at Chuck & Don's Petfood Warehouse MEETING DATE: October 2,2007 Introduction Chuck and Don's Pet Food Warehouse has approached planning staff with their desire to hold a fall festival on October 20th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm in the northwest corner of their shared parking lot at Crossroads Center. As proposed, the festival area would take up 24 parking spaces and would be encompassed by hay bales to separate the festival area from the rest of the parking lot. The activities proposed are pony rides, pumpkin painting, a costume contest, and other activities outlined in the attached letter. The applicant has stated that the festival will only be held on the above date and stated time. Planning staff has reviewed the letter and has determined that the amount of parking provided on the site would still be in compliance with code requirements. The location of the festival should not impact pedestrian or automobile traffic on the site, as long as the drive aisles of the parking lot are sufficiently blocked to avoid driver confusion. Staff also requests that the site be cleaned immediately following the festival. The fire inspector was also contacted and approves of the festival location. ACTION REQUESTED: Offer and pass a motion to approve the request for the Fall Festival to take place as presented and only on October 20,2007 from 12:00 pm until 4:00 pm. u~) KYle Sobota Planner I ~ 09/2./2007 12,19 FAX 952.990371 ~ 001/001 Chuck and Don's Fall Festival Saturday October 20th 12-4 Mfn', ~~~~J~ qS~-J33- 3ro f Events include: Pony rides Pumpkin painting Costume contest Neatest trick contest Games Prize Wheel This is a one time event being used to show our appreciation for all of our customers.
