P, ~ Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council CONSENT Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Judith S. Cox, City Clerk SUBJECT: November 6, 2007 Council Meeting Date Change - Res. No. 6649 DATE: August 29, 2007 INTRODUCTION: The Council is asked to change the date in which the first regular City Council meeting in November is held. BACKGROUND: The first regular meeting in November would normally be Tuesday, November 6th. However, that is also the day of the City election, and, by State law, Council would be prohibited from meeting prior to 8:00 p.m. on that day. In addition, by State law, the Council must meet within seven days of the election to canvass the results. Therefore, it is recommended that the first meeting in November be delayed to Wednesday, November 7, 2007. VISIONING RELATIONSHIP: This is a housekeeping item. ACTION REQUIRED: If Council concurs, it should, by motion offer Resolution No. 6649, Changing the November 6, 2007 Council meeting to Wednesday, November 7, 2007, and move its adoption. I:ElectionIResChangeDate RESOLUTION NO. 6649 I A ~SOLUTION CHANGING THE NOVEMBER 6, 2007 COUNCIL MEETING DATE WHEREAS, the Shakopee City Code has set the first Tuesday of each month as the regular meeting date for the City Council; and WHEREAS, the Shakopee City Code allows the City Council to change the meeting date by adopting a resolutiqn at least one week prior to the regularly scheduled meeting. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the November 6,2007 regularly scheduled City Council meeting be changed to November 7, 2007, at 7:00 p.m. Adopted in Regular Session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota, held this 4th day of September, 2007.
