INTRODUCTION: This item is for council to consider the purchase of one (l) new Tractor and Snowplow from Ag Power (Siemon Implement, Inc.) and two (2) Tiger Mowers from MacQueen Equipment, inc. This Tractor is used for Right-of-way, Ditch and Pond mowing and also for Snowplowing of the City's Parking Lots. BACKGROUND: The Public Works Department identified a need in the 2007 Capital Equipment Budget to replace the 1997 John Deere 6400 Tractor, Mowers and Snowplow. The Tractor and equipment is 10 years old with 4,000 Hours. Staff is requesting replacement at this time to take advantage of the excellent trade-in value of this tractor. In 1997 the total purchase price of the Tractor, Mowers and Snowplow with tax and trade-in of a Ford Tractor was $54,489.66. Today the total cost of replacing the Tractor, Mowers and plow with tax and trade-in is $59,986.85. Staff is currently working with Scott County on a maintenance agreement for the mowing of County Right-of-way in the City which they would reimburse us for the hours used. We are estimating 250 to 300 Hours of mowing. Staff will be utilizing State Bid Pricing for this purchase. John Deere 6430 $58,472.68 Snowplow 6,400.00 Tiger Mowers 21.453.00 $86,325.68 Trade-in (30.000.00) $56,325.65 Tax 3.661.17 Total $59,986.85 ALTERNATIVES: 1. Authorize the purchase of a Tractor, Mower and Snowplow for the price of $59,986.85. 2. Deny the purchase. 3. Table for additional information. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends alternative number 1. ACTION REOUESTED: Move to authorize staff to purchase one new John Deere Tractor and Snowplow from Ag Power (Siemon Implement, Inc.) and Tiger Mowers from MacQueen Equipment, Inc. for the combined purchase price of $59,986.85 with the purchases to be paid out of the Storm Drainage Fund. ~.~ Michael HuUander Public Works Superintendent
