BACtkGROUND AND DISCUSSION
In Ma~ 2006 City Council authorized the purchase of a Panasonic Network Security
Camera System from General Securities Services Corporation. The system was
purch~sed at that time with the intention of future expansion of the system with
additibnal cameras.

I
Sincel the cameras have been installed, we have used them to investigate several
incid~nts at the center that were caught on video; however we have identified areas of
the bl!iilding that we do not have adequate coverage.
i
Currently we have a network video recorder and six internal vandal-proof dome
cameras. The network video monitor is currently a shared monitor at the community
center front desk. The locations of the cameras are as follows:

. I North Vestibule Entrance
. I South Vestibule Entrance
. I Gymnasium
,
. I Community Center Front Desk
. I Stairwell Downstairs

Adding cameras to the current system will allow for additional coverage of the areas that
curre1tly lack video coverage. At this time, we are only able to monitor the current
systerj11 on the front desk computer. Since the computer is used on a daily basis for an
empldyee work station, the monitoring of the cameras is not always available.
I
i
We a~e proposing to install seven new cameras within the Community Center and Ice
Aren~ and a monitor exclusively used for monitoring the system. This monitor would be
suppqrted by the computer that is currently at the Shakopee SandVenture Aquatic Park.
The cameras proposed are the newest technology and are compatible with our current
system. The locations of these cameras are as follows:

· i Fitness Area
. i Teen Center
· i Walking Track
