Gulden Subject: Surplus Property Date: July 3, 2007 INTRODUCTION The Shakopee Police Department is seeking council approval to declare confiscated firearms as surplus property. BACKGROUND A description of the firearms is attached. These firearms were obtained through successful forfeiture proceedings and are not suitable for city use. The firearms will be sold to the highest bidder who possesses a Federal Firearms License (FFL). Two bids were received. Sport Stop and Ray O'Herron Co. Inc. submitted bids. Ray O'Herron had the higher bid. VISIONING RELATIONSHIP This action supports: Goal E: Financially strong Strategy 10: Ensure city's fiscal health ALTERNATIVES 1. Authorize staff to declare the firearms as surplus property. 2. Do not authorize. RECOMMENDATION Staff recommends alternative one. ACTION REQUESTED If Council concurs, they should by motion, declare the listed firearms as surplus property.
