SUBJECT: Amendment to the Southwest Metro Drug Task Force's Grant
Agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety,
Office of Justice Programs.
DATE: July 3,2007
INTRODUCTION
The Shakopee Police Department, acting as the financial agent for the Southwest Metro
Drug Task Force, is seeking approval to amend its original grant agreement with the
Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs.
BACKGROUND
On January 12, 2007 Council adopted Resolution 6566 authorizing participation in the
Southwest Metro Drug Task Force and entering into aCQope'rative agreement with the ...
Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs as its financial agent.
At this time the grant contract called for reimbursement not to exceed $120,000. On June
19,2007, the Minnesota Department of Public Safety notified the Southwest Metro Drug
Task Force that an additional $40,000 had been awarded, bringing the total
reimbursement to $160,000.
BUDGET IMPACT
The additional funding does not require any additional funding as a local match.

ALTERNATIVES
1. Amend the original grant agreement with the Minnesota Department of
Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs and accept the increased level of
funding.
2. Do not amend the original grant agreement with the Minnesota
Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs and decline the
increased level of funding.
3. Table and provide staff with direction

If council concurs, they should by motion approve the amendment to the original grant
agreement with the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, Office of Justice Programs
and accept the increased level of funding.
