13. f/.3.
CITY OF SHAKOPEE
MEMORANDUM
CASELOG NO: NA
TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: R. Michael Leek, Community Development Director
SUBJECT: Discussion of Contract for Express Bus Service
MEETING DATE: May 1, 2007
INTRODUCTIONIDISCUSSION:
The new express bus service to Downtown Minneapolis is scheduled to begin in early
June ofthis year. For purposes of beginning the service, it is proposed that the City enter
into a contract with Schmitty and Sons that essentially "piggybacks" on an existing
contract between the City of Prior Lake and Schmitty's. Because the contract will need
to be acted on by the City Council prior to the start of service in June, staff wanted to
provide Council with an opportunity to ask questions and provide any direction it feels
appropriate before finalizing the contract for approval and execution. The contract has
also been referred to the City Attorney for review.
VISIONING RELATIONSHIP:
The proposed service and agreement supports adopted Goal B: High quality of life.
ACTION REQUESTED:
Provide direction to City staff regarding additions or amendments the Council believes may
be needed before bringing the express bus service contract forward for approval and
execution.
