SUBJECT: Street Closure Request

INTRODUCTION:
The Fire Department is requesting approval to close a portion of Lewis St. on June 16th,
2007 from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00pm.
BACKGROUND:
Every year Pablo's Mexican Restaurant holds a charitable motorcycle run benefiting the
Shakopee Fire Department. The department helps to organize and run the event held at
the restaurant. We have closed Lewis Street in the past from 2nd Avenue to 3rd Avenue
during the day of the run to allow for the over 300 motorcycles who come to participate
in the event.
RELATIONSHIP TO VISIONING:
This represents A of the Shakopee strategic vision.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends the closure of Lewis St. from 2nd Ave to 3rd Ave from the hours of
8:00 a.m. to 7:00p.m. to assist with the charitable event.
ACTION REQUESTED:
If council concurs, they should by motion authorize, appropriate city staff to close Lewis
St. from 2nd to 3rd Ave on Saturday, June 16th, 2007, from 8:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
