Memorandum
TO: Mayor and City Council CONSENT
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: Michael Hullander, Public Works Supervisor
SUBJECT: Cleaning Contract - Parks
MEETING DATE: April 1 7, 2007
INTRODUCTION:
City Council is asked to approve and authorize the appropriate city officials to enter into
a Cleaning Contract with Plymouth Ridge, Inc. d/b/a Coverall Cleaning Concepts until
December 3l, 2007 for Lions, Memorial, Hiawatha, Tahpah, Holmes, Huber and Scenic
Heights Parks, and the Soccer Complex on 17th Ave East.
BACKGROUND:
The City has contracted with Coverall Cleaning Concepts since January 2003 for the
seasonal cleaning (April-November) of all park buildings. If a cleaning company were
not used to clean the parks, Public Works Park Maintenance would need to clean the
parks which would require the use of overtime pay. Coverall is increasing its 2007 prices
by 2% this year. The increase is $1995.00 from the 2006 overall city contract, which
includes adding the Soccer Complex to the 2007 schedule. Even with this increase, the
contract with Coverall is still more cost effective than paying Public Works employees
overtime for cleaning on the weekends.
