SUBJECT: Authorization to Dispose of Surplus Property from the Enigma Teen Center (F)
Action Sought
The Council is asked to authorize the disposal of a coin operated pool table and a pair of passive
speakers from the Enigma Teen Center.
Background
In 2004, the Teen Center acquired one used Valley brand coin operated pool table that was
donated. Two more used pool tables were acquired by donation at a later date when Rack -N -Roll
Billiards in Shakopee closed it's doors. The coin operated pool table has been used very little and
is in average condition. The other two pool tables are currently meeting the recreational needs of
the facility.
Additionally, two older Cerwin -Vega brand passive speakers were acquired by donation when the
teen center opened in 2004. They were used until 2007 and have since been replaced with more
appropriate equipment. They were operational when stored, but have flaws and need repairs. The
features are obsolete and they serve no current need.
The preceding items will be surplussed to be sold or disposed of properly. City staff has contacted
the League of Minnesota Cities, and will follow the procedures, as defined in the City Code and
State Statute to advertise, accept offers and determine sale of the surplus items.
Budget Impact
This item has no budgetary impact. Proceeds from the sale of the pool table and speakers will be
placed back in the Teen Center general fund revenues.
Relationship to Vision
This is a housekeeping item. (F)
Requested Action
The Council is asked to declare the listed pool table and speakers as surplus property and
authorize the appropriate staff to sell or dispose of these items as warranted.
