HomeMy WebLinkAbout4.G. Approve Scheduling of Workshop Meeting April 29, 2014 General Business 4. G. SFLkKOPEE TO: Mayor and City Council FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator DATE: 04/01/2014 SUBJECT: Approve Scheduling of Workshop Meeting April 29, 2014. (F) Action Sought The Council should approve the scheduling of a City Council workshop for Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Background With the one workshop, and one business meeting format which was adopted by the City Council at the beginning of the year, there have been a number of items which have been difficult to schedule in a timely manner. One of those topics is staff goals. Mayor Tabke has asked each department to bring forward a list of their goals and priorities, and present those so that Council may consider them. It would be preferable to do that prior to the June 3rd meeting, which is currently scheduled to discuss County Road 101 priorities, and continue a discussion of the City Council's "over arching" goals. If the departmental goals are presented before June 3rd, they may be considered as part of the Council's prioritization. At this time, the May 6th workshop appears to be fully scheduled, with a discussion with Shakopee Public Utilities Commission (SPUC), and a review of the garbage /recycling roll out which will take place later that month. Therefore, in order to provide adequate time to consider the department goals, staff is requesting that a workshop be held April 29th. It would start at 7:00 p.m. Recommendation I recommend that the Council schedule a workshop meeting for 7 PM on April 29, 2014. Budget Impact None Relationship To Visioning Housekeeping item. Requested Action If the Council concurs, it should, by motion, approve the scheduling of a City Council Workshop at 7 PM on Tuesday, April 29, 2014. Attachments:
