SUBJECT: Authorization to Dispose of Surplus Property from Schleper Stadium and the
Community Center (F)
Action Sought
The Council is asked to authorize the disposal of the scoreboard and stadium seating from
Schleper Stadium and three elliptical machines from the Community Center.
Background
In 2013 the City Council authorized staff to purchase a new scoreboard for Schleper Stadium.
The replacement of the scoreboard was a planned project on the Park Asset plan due to the
condition and inability to find parts for the current scoreboard. In addition the City Council
authorized the purchase of 650 Metrodome seats for Schleper Stadium to replace the existing
seats that were purchased from the Metropolitan Stadium in 1985. The current scoreboard and
stadium seating is still operational however the City has no use for them with the installation of
the new scoreboard and Metrodome seats.
In addition three elliptical machines within the Community Center fitness area have been replaced
with new elliptical machines as part of the City's regular fitness equipment replacement schedule.
The three elliptical machines being surplussed were originally purchased in 2005 and were not
eligible to be traded in for the new machines.
The following items will be surplussed to be sold or disposed of properly. City staff has contacted
the League of Minnesota Cities, and will follow the procedures, as defined in the City Code and
State Statute to advertise, accept offers and determine sale of the surplus items.
