No. 7426 (F) Action Sought The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7426, a resolution amending Resolution No. 7393, a resolution adopting the 2014 Pay Plan for certain non -union employees of the City of Shakopee, and move its adoption. Background With the approval of position descriptions for Accounting Manager, Graduate Engineer and Engineering Technician, there is a need to place these positions on the City's pay plan. Recommendation I recommend that the Accounting Manager position be placed in Grade 8, the Graduate Engineer position be placed in Grade 6 and the Engineering Technician position be placed in Grade 5 of the 2014 Non -Union Pay Plan. The placements are supported by the quantitative value assigned to each position by our Comparable Worth software system and a review of the pay for comparable postions with other metro -area cities, as reported in the League of Minnesota Cities salary survey. Budget Impact A total of $6,350 was included in the adopted 2014 budget for the Finance Depaitinent to fund the promotion from Accountant to Accounting Manager and $51,500 was included in the Engineering Division budget to fund the mid -year hiring of either a Graduate Engineer or an Engineering Technician. Relationship to Vision This is a housekeeping item. (F) Requested Action The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7426, a resolution amending Resolution No. 7393, a resolution adopting the 2014 Pay Plan for certain non -union employees of the City of Shakopee, and move its adoption. Attachments: Resolution No. 7426 Amended 2014 Pay Plan RESOLUTION No. 7426 A RESOLUTION AMENDING RESOLUTION No. 7393, A RESOLUTION ADOPTING THE 2014 PAY PLAN FOR CERTAIN NON -UNION EMPLOYEES OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE WHEREAS, on December 17, 2013, the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota, adopted Resolution No. 7393, a resolution adopting the 2014 pay plan for certain non -union employees of the City of Shakopee; and WHEREAS, since that date, the City Council has approved the new positions of Accounting Manager, Engineering Technician and Graduate Engineer and there is a need to place these new positions on the pay plan; NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the pay plan adopted by Resolution No. 7393 is hereby amended to include the position of Accounting Manager within Pay Grade 8, Graduate Engineer within Pay Grade 6 and Engineering Technician within Pay Grade 5.
