BACKGROUND: In 2005, City Council approved a formal policy for the inspection and maintenance of the sanitary sewer system. Part of that policy requires the television inspection of sanitary sewer mains every 10 years. Staff is requesting to televise 60,000 linear feet which is 10% of the City's system. Television inspection allows staff to identify any defects such as tree root growth, off-set joints, protruding taps, sags, and cracks which could potentially cause a blockage or collapse in the system. Staff has received two quotes and is requesting council authorization to approve and accept the low quote from Hydro-Vac, Inc. for the quoted price of $0.375 per linear foot. The total cost for televising 60,000 linear feet is $22,500.00. AL TERNA TIVES: 1. Accept the low quote from Hydro-Vac, Inc. for $0.375 per linear foot to televise 60,000 linear feet of sanitary sewer mains. 2. Do not accept the low quote. 3. Table for additional information. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends alternative No. 1.
