No. 7408(E) Action Sought The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7408, a resolution approving the City of Shakopee's 2013 Pay Equity Compliance Report, and move its adoption. Background In 1984, the State of Minnesota adopted the Local Government Pay Equity Act (M.S. 471.991- 471.999) requiring local governments to establish equitable compensation relationships for male and female classes of employees in order to eliminate gender-based wage disparities in public employment. Local governments statewide are required to file a compliance report with the state's Office of Management and Budget once every three years. The City of Shakopee is required to report data for calendar year 2013 and must submit its report to the state no later than January 31, 2014. The report has been prepared and is attached for Council's information. The data in the report reflects wages levels and employment numbers as of December 31, 2013. All positions where an employee worked an average of 14 hours per week or more and at least 67 calendar days (100 days for full-time students) are considered "reportable." Relationship to Vision This is a housekeeping item (F). Requested Action The Council is asked to offer Resolution No. 7408, a resolution approving the City of Shakopee's 2013 Pay Equity Compliance Report, and move its adoption. Attachments: Res. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,that the Mayor is authorized to sign and the City Administrator is directed to submit the report to the State of Minnesota no later than January 31, 2015, in compliance with the City's obligations under the Local Government Pay Equity Act (M.S. 471.991 to 471.999).
