(E) Action Sought Move to authorize the purchase of two (2) police interceptors and one (1)police detective vehicle from Nelson Auto Center for the amount of$77,825.25 in accordance with the State of Minnesota contract#37669. The funds are to be expended from the Capital Equipment Internal Service Fund. Background The 2014 budget includes an appropriation of$119,000.00 for the purchase of two police interceptors and one police detectives vehicle. Funding is from the Capital Equipment Internal Service Fund. The new interceptors will replace models purchased in 2010. The police detectives vehicle replaces a 2004 Chevy Caprice. The vendor cost for the 2014 Ford Police Interceptor Utility is $26,461.82 with a total of two interceptors at $52,923.64. The cost for the 2014 Ford Police Interceptor Sedan is $24,902.61. The total cost for this purchase is $77,825.25. Staff will be using State of Minnesota contract number 37669. The Police Department will manage the set-up and equipment purchases for these new vehicles after delivery. Recommendation Staff recommends authorizing the purchase. Budget Impact Funding has been appropriated in the 2014 Capital Equipment Budget. Relationship to Vision E. Deliver effective and efficient public services by a staff of welltrained caring and professional employees.
