Memorandum TO: Mayor and City Council CONSENT FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator SUBJECT: Planning Commission Appointments DATE: February 28, 2007 INTRODUCTION: The Council is asked to correct two appointments to the Planning CommissionlBOAA. BACKGROUND: At the February 20th, 2007, City Council meeting, the Council adopted Resolution No. 6578, which appointed the people to the City's advisory boards and commissions. In that was an appointment of Chris Gorton as a four year appointment for the Planning Commission, and Mark McQuillan as a one year appointment. However, it was subsequently found that the terms of the appointments should have been reversed. This had been the recommendation of the interview panel, but that was incorrectly reflected in the resolution. Therefore, Council is asked to adopt a resolution which appoints Ms, Gorton to the one year term, and Mark McQuillan to the four year term. RELATIONSHIP TO VISIONING GOALS: This supports Goal F - Housekeeping, RECOMMENDATION: I recommend that the Council adopt the corrected resolution (attached). ACTION REQUESTED: Ifthe Council concurs, it should, by motion, adopt Resolution No. 6589, A Resolution Appointing Individuals to Various Boards and Commissions. ~.1JLvGLu) Mark McNeill City Administrator MM:th RESOLUTION NO. 6589 A RESOLUTION APPOINTING INDIVIDUALS TO VARIOUS BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the following appointments are hereby made: 1. Bill Mars and Eric Braun are appointed to the Shakopee Public Utilities Commission for three year terms expiring March 31, 2010. 2. Tom Steininger is appointed to the Police Civil Service Commission for a three year term expiring February 28,2010. 3. Gayl Madigan and Mark McQuillan are appointed to the Planning Commission/BOAA for four year terms expiring February 28,2011, and Chris Gorton is appointed to the Planning Commission/BOAA for a one year term expiring February 28, 2008. 4. Michael Guncheon and Ben Adams are appointed to the Telecommunications Advisory Commission for three year terms expiring February 28, 2010. 5. Jay Whiting and Mike Huber are appointed to the Historic Preservation Advisory Commission for three year terms expiring February 28,2010. 6. Lisa Overn is appointed to the Transit Commission for a three year term expiring February 28,2010 and Randy Busch and John Drees are appointed for two year terms expiring February 28,2009. 7. Sam Mayberry and Jeanie Penning are appointed to the Park and Recreation Advisory Board for three year terms expiring February 28,2010. 8. Mateus Ferraz-Souza and Karyn Islam are appointed to the Environmental Advisory Commission for three year terms expiring February 28, 2010. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Resolution supersedes Resolution No. 6578. Adopted in regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota, held this 6th day of March, 2007.
