BACKGROUND: The 2007 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) includes $100,000.00 for the construction of a bituminous trail along Vierling Drive, from Miller Street to CSAH 16 (please see the attached sheet). Portions of the trail are anticipated to be constructed by current development in the area, Shakopee Landing 1 st Addition and Vierling Estates 1 st Addition. Additionally, staff is proposing to construct the trail entirely within the City of Shakopee's right-of-way and easements by utilizing retaining walls to account for existing conditions. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Authorize staff to prepare plans and specifications for the 2007 Vierling Drive Bituminous Trail Project. 2. Do not authorize staff to prepare plans and specifications for the 2007 Vierling Drive Bituminous Trail Project. 3. Table for additional information. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Alternative No. 1, to authorize the preparation of plans and specifications in order to proceed with the 2007 Vierling Drive Bituminous Trail Project, as outlined in this memo.
