TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator
DATE: 09/03/2013
SUBJECT: Accept Resignation of Economic Development Advisory Commission Member (F)
Action Sought
The Council is asked to accept the resignation of Ryan Love, Economic Development Advisory
Commission member.
Background
Economic Development Advisory Committee member Ryan Love announced his resignation
from the EDAC at its most recent meeting on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. Mr. Love has served
on the EDAC for two years. The resignation was to take place immediately.
This resignation will leave the EDAC with six members. There are no "standing" applications on
file, so that means needing to advertise and post the vacancy to generate new candidates. An
appointment to fill the opening would not take place in October at best, and more realistically
November. The City's practice otherwise is to advertise for all vacancies in January of each year,
with appointments in February.
Recommendation
I recommend accepting with regret the resignation of Ryan Love from the EDAC, effective
September 3rd, and further to have the EDAC continue to operate with the remaining 6 members
until the next overall Commission candidate replacement cycle in February.
Budget Impact
None.
Relationship To Visioning
This supports Goal "F", "Housekeeping item."
Requested Action
The Council is asked to accept, with regret, the resignation of Ryan Love, Economic
Development Advisory Committee member, and allow the EDAC to operate with its remaining
six committee members until the next regular candidate recruitment cycle.
