A joint powers agreement is need to be able to purchase off those contracts. This is similar to utilizing the State of Minnesota and Hennepin County contracts for purchasing. G~VOXland Finance Director H, \Finance\docs\ RESOLUTION NO. 6584 A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING A JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA FOR PURCHASING CONTRACTS WHEREAS, the University of Minnesota has various contracts for the acquisition of goods and services, and WHEREAS, the City of Shakopee desires to purchase items covered by such contracts, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the City Council authorized the proper city officials to execute the attached Joint Powers Agreement with the University of Minnesota. Adopted in session of the City council of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota held this day of February, 2007. Mayor of the City of Shakopee ATTEST: City Clerk I Twin Cities Campus Purchasing Services Suite 560 1300 South Second Street A1inneapol~,AfiV 55454-1082 612-624-2828 Fax: 612-626-0366 http://purchasing.umn.edu E-mail: u-purch@groupw~e. umn. edu JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT WHEREAS, the State Legislature by Minnesota Statutes, Section 471.59, Subdivision 1, has authorized its Political Subdivisions to enter into agreements to perform for each other governmental powers they can perform themselves, and WHEREAS, the University of Minnesota and the City of Shakopee are both political subdivisions of the State of Minnesota, and WHEREAS, the City of Shakopee wishes to purchase supplies, commodities, and equipment from a contract entered into by the University of Minnesota and made available to other political subdivisions ofthe State of Minnesota by the contract vendor. THEREFORE, it is the purpose of this agreement made and entered into by and between the University of Minnesota and the City of Shako pee and to make available to the City of Shako pee -- the supplies, commodities, and equipment included in said contracts entered into under competitive bidding, at the prices and terms as are available to the University of Minnesota. IT IS AGREED that if The City of Shakopee chooses to buy from an available University of Minnesota contract it will issue purchase orders directly to the contract vendor (seller) including those for drop shipment. Invoices shall be paid by the City of Shakopee directly to the seller as agreed in the terms and conditions of the contract.
