TO: Mayor and Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Gregg Voxland, Finance Director SUBJ: Bids for land sale north of the Library DATE: February 13, 2007 Introduction & Background Council had declared surplus a triangle shaped parcel of land north of the library (parcel 27-149003-0) . The parcel is old railroad right of way and the adjacent property owner has been using the parcel for parking without a lease or easement from the city. Estimated value of the parcel is more than $5,000 and the City Code therefore requires bids for the sale. The sale was advertised in the official newspaper. The assessors estimated market value of the parcel is $12,900. Two bids were received, one for $324.07 from Ultrawave Properties, LLC and one for $60,000 from MMCD Properties. Staff's opinion is that it is in the best interest of the city to place the parcel back on the tax rolls and open the opportunity for a building to be constructed on the site. Alternatives l. Accept the high bid. 2. Reject all bids. 3, Landscape the area to enhance downtown and the library site. Action Move to accept the bid of MMCD Properties in the amount of $60,000 for the sale of parcel 27-149003-0, a triangle shaped piece of land north of the library, direct staff to prepare the necessary documents and authorize the proper city officials to execute the sale. fi/ Gregg Voxland Finance Director H,\Finance\docs\
