Redevelopment Rebid
INTRODUCTION
City Council is asked to authorize a contract extension with Bonestroo Rosene Anderlik
and Associates for the work required to rebid HUber Park and the related riverfront
development.
DISCUSSION
Based,on your direction at the May2 meeting, Stuart Krahn from Bonestroo has
prepared.a contract extension proposal for rebidding Huber Park and related work. The
contract extension would cover the following work:
. Splitting up the plan documents and specification documents into two separate bid
packages (Site Work and Building Construction) as described in the proposal.
. Adding the park pavilion building (restroom/storage) as a bid deduct and providing
accommodations in the bid deduct for an exterior cabinet(s) to house the remaining
park electrical, water, and irrigation controls.
. Printing and assembling plan sets and specifications for both bid packages.
. Prepare advertisements for both bid packages.
. Conducting a pre-bid meeting for both bid packages and preparing responses to
questions.
· Respond to questions from plan holders and bidders,
· Attend bid opening, tabulate bid results, and analyze bids.
The proposed fee is not to exceed $9,800, andwould need to be funded from the project
budget.
If this proposal. is approved, the rebid schedulewould be as follows:

May 25/26 Advertisements in Shakopee Valley News/Construction Bulletin
June 8 Pre-bid Meeting for Contractors
June 27 Bid Opening

RE: City Project Number PR2005-3: Huber Park and Related Riverfront Development,
Fillmore Street Extension, and Alley Improvements Re-Bidding Services Proposal
Dear Mark:
We have enjoyed working with the City of Shakopee on this significant project and look forward
to continuing to assist you with the re-bidding of the project.
Proiect Understandin2 and Scone of Work
The City will re-bid PR2005-3 ,in, two separate bid packages. one for sitework and one for the
buildings. This re-bid work involves splitting the previous bid documents without any City-
required design modifications. However, items identified during the previous bidding period as
addendum items will be updated in the respective bid packages to avoid further addenda related
to those items.
The Sitework Bid Package will include the following:
1. Fillmore Street Extension and Alley Improvements
2. SPUC conduit installation and park electrical conduit crossings
3. Site preparation
4. Site utilities
5. Parking lots
6. Walks and trails
7. Site amenities (excluding the picnic shelter)
8. Terraced seating
9. Boat landing
10. Plantings and turf establishment

The Buildings Bid Package will include the following:
1. Performance Shelter
2. Pavilion Building
3. Picnic shelter
4. Entry colonnade and monuments
The bid packages will retain the deduct alternates provided in the original bid package, with the
Pavilion Building as an additional deduct alternate so that it could be eliminated from the project
if the budget required.
We understand that both bid packages will be advertised and opened on the sa!lle schedule.
Bonestroo will prepare the advertisement for bids for distribution by the City. We will also print
bidding documents, including drawings and specifications. and provide them to the City for
distribution to prospective bidders. We will prepare responses to questions from prospective
bidders and provide clarifications and interpretations of the bidding documents to all prospective
bidders in the form of addenda.
Additional Services
Any services not covered in the previous paragraphs may be provided, as an additional service.
only if specifically requested and authorized in writing by the City.
Compensation
We propose to be compensated for the services outlined in the above scope of work on a lump
sum basis, including reimbursable expenses, in the amount of $9,800. If the City, at the time of
authorizing these services, does not choose to include the deduct alternate option for the Pavilion
Building, our fees could be reduced by $1.620.
Contract
If this proposal is acceptable to the City, we will prepare an Agreement Extension to our existing
contract with the City to perform this work.
