SUBJECT: Authorization to Hire One Community Service Officer - Ryan Soliday DATE: May 2, 2006 INTRODUCTION: The Police Department is requesting Council approval to hire Ryan Soliday as a part-time probationary community service officer. BACKGROUND: Council authorized four part-time community service officer positions in the 2006 Police Department budget. Currently one community service officer position is vacant. The Police Civil Service Commission conducted the necessary testing that created the Community Service Officer eligible register. The following names are the top candidates listed, in alphabetical order, on the eligible register established by the Police Civil Service Commission. . Kimberly Laine . Ryan Soliday . Karen Wasiloski Staff recommends that Ryan Soliday be hired at Step E of Grade Level 2 of the 2006 City Pay Plan. BUDGET IMPACT: Funds exist in the Police Department budget for this position. ALTERNATIVES: 1. Authorize the hire. 2. Do not authorize the hire. 3. Table and provide direction to staff. RECOMMENDATION: " Alternative #1. Staff recommends Council authorize the hiring Ryan Soliday as a part- time probationary community service officer.
