INTRODUCTION
City Council is asked to adopt Resolution No. to'f/'7 , A Resolution of the City of
Shakopee, Minnesota Accepting a Grant from Polaris Industries for the Quarry Lake Park
Project.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
In February, the Prior Lake Water$ki Association submitted a grant on behalf of the City
to Polaris Industries for the Quarry Lake Park project. This application was for the first
ever Polaris T.R.A.I.L.S. program.
We were notified that we. have been selected by Polaris Industries to received $10,000 for
the Quarry Lake Park project. These funds will be used to continue planning work, clean-
up, andlor future construction on the project.

A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA
ACCEPTION A GRANT FROM POLARIS INDUSTRIES FOR THE QUARRY LAKE
PARK PROJECT
WHEREAS, the Prior Lake Water Ski Association submitted a grant application
on behalf of the City to assist with developing the Quarry Lake Park project; and,
WHEREAS, the City has been notified that Polaris Industries has selected the
City of Shakopee for a $10,000 grant; and,
WHEREAS, the funds are to be used for the purpose of developing a reclaimed
quarry into a multi-use recreational trail facility.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY
OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the City of Shakopee (The City) accepts the grant.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the City Council extends its appreciation to
Polaris Industries for their assistance in funding the Quarry Lake Park project.

Congratulations! After much review, your A TV organization has been selected as one of the first
ever Polaris T.R.A.I.L.S. grant recipients. We are thrilled to share this news with you and your
organization.
Polaris introduced the T.R.A.I.L.S. grant program in January of 2006 and since then, we've
received an. enthusiastic response from clubs and organizations representing nearly every state.
Enclosed you will fina a check in the amount of $9,000 to your organization. An additional one
thousand dollars ($1,000.00) will be held until the final project report has been received. At that
time, we'll issue your organization a check for $1,000. We hope that this will help contribute to the
success of your program.
During the course of your project, we ask that you keep us abreast of your project via email and
encourage you to share electronic photos of the progress, if relevant. We plan to update our online
ESCAPE! Magazine with the happenings. In addition, please review the enclosed Checklist and
forward the necessary information to me by April 30th.

Polaris Grants More Than $260,000 to ATV Clubs
National, State and Local A TV Clubs & Organizations to Benefit
MINNEAPOLIS, April 24, 2006 - Polaris Industries is proud to announce the first round of
'T.RALL.S.' grant recipients, with grants totaling $269,267. Polaris issued grants to 34
organizations in 20 states.
Thefirst of its kind in the ATV industry, the 'T.RAILS.' grant program was
launched in January for ATV clubs, associations and grassroots groups. A TV riders and the
trails they use are the lifeblood of the sport and Polaris aimed to create a program to help. The
T.RALL.S. program makes funds available to national, state and local organizations in the
United States to ensure the future of ATV riding.
T.RALL.S. stands for:
T = Trail Development
R = Responsible Riding
A = Access
I = Initiatives
L = Lobbying
S = Safety
The grant program encompasses two main objectives - promoting safe and
responsible riding, and preserving access. Fund's can be used by organizations for trail
development and maintenance projects, safety and education initiatives, lobbying and other
projects to increase and maintain land access.
"Trail access is our number one challenge in the industry," said Bennett Morgan,
president and chief operating officer of Polaris. "As a manufacturer, we're taking the lead
and responsibility by doing something about it."
The grants ranged from $2,000 to the maximum $10,000 and will be applied toward
projects including safety and education, trail mapping and marking, OHV park and forest
service enhancement and trail development, youth safety events and lobbying efforts.

Grant applications are reviewed three times per year -- in April, August and
November, with corresponding submission deadlines of March 1, July 1 and October 1.
Organizations may apply for amaximum of two grants per year and all organizations must
have 501 c3, 501 c7 or non-profit organization status. Project funding from other sources is
an important criteria in order to be considered for a T.R.A.I.L.S. grant.
