SHAKOPEE TO: Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Jeff Tate, Police Chief DATE: 07/29/2013 SUBJECT: Purchase of Police Vehicle (E) Action Sought The Police Department is requesting Council approval to spend $35,000 to purchase a vehicle for the newly created Tribal Liaison Officer position. Background The Police Department is requesting authorization to purchase a 2013 Ford Taurus for its Tribal Liaison Officer. The City entered into a three -year agreement with the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community to provide police services and purchase equipment. $250,000 was allocated under this agreement. Recommendation Staff recommends approval of the vehicle purchase. Budget Impact The Police Department is requesting Council approval to spend $35,000 allocated under the police services agreement with the SMSC. No impact to the 2013 budget. Relationship to Vision This action supports: Goal E: Deliver effective and efficient public services by a staff of well - trained, caring and professional employees. Requested Action If the Council concurs, they should, by motion, authorize the appropriate city staff to spend $35,000 allocated under the police services agreement with the SM SC for the purchase of a 2013 Ford Taurus.
