SUBJECT: Successful Completion of Probation, Officer John Norris
DATE: February 2, 2006
INTRODUCTION:
The Police Department is taking this opportunity to notify City Council that the services
of Officer John Norris have been satisfactory andrecommend that he be retained in the
position of Police Officer, as authorized by Section VIII, paragraph H-Iofthe Personnel
Handbook.
BACKGROUND:
The City Council authorized the appointment of John Norris to the position of
probationary police officer effective February 14,2005. Officer Norris has performed the
responsibilities of the position in a satisfactory manner over the past twelve months.
VISIONING RELATIONSHIP:
This. action supports:
Goal A: High quality of life
Strategy 6: Provide high quality services

RECOMMENDATION:

Staff recommends that Officer John Norris be retained in the position of Shakopee Police
Officer.
ACTION REQUESTED:
The City Council, if they concur, should by motion acknowledge the satisfactory
completion of probation and authorize the retention of John Norris as Police Officer
effective February 14,2006.
