Memorandum TO: Mayor & City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator COf~SE'~r FROM: Michael Hullander,Public Works Supervisor SUBJECT: Light Truck Purchase for Fire Department DATE: February 6, 2007 INTRODUCTION: Council is requested to authorize the purchase of a light truck for the Fire Department as provided in the 2007 budget. BACKGROUND: The 2007 budget includes $45,000.00 for the purchase of a light truck for the Fire Department. The purchase will replace a 1999 Dodge Pickup that is recommended to be sold at auction. This memo only addresses the purchase of the pickup; other costs will include a Light Bar ($1,300,00), Siren ($500.00) and Graphics ($500.00). All other equipment will be transferred from the Dodge to the new truck. The truck, equipment and labor for set-up will be paid for out of the Internal Service Equipment Fund. The State of Minnesota contract for this vehicle was awarded as shown below. Options listed are requested by the Department and are at manufacturer-to-dealer invoice pricing, Ford F-150 4x4 Crew Cab Base Bid $23,310.50 Contract Options: Mirror Package 196,00 Rear Defroster 120.00 Bed Cover 425,00 Bed Liner 425.00 Total $24,476,50 ALTERNATIVES: 1. Authorize the purchase. 2. Deny the purchase 3. Table for additional information. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends alternative Number 1, ACTION REOUESTED: Move to authorize the purchase of one light truck from Elk River Ford in the amount of $24,476,50 under the State of Minnesota contract #436604. 1~'~~ Michael Hullander Public Works Supervisor
