Staff has received quotes and is requesting council authorization to proceed. BACKGROUND: Public Works will begin operating out of the two buildings in 2006, thanks to council approval of the construction of our new facility. With this new facility, the growth of the department over the past years, and with present day security concerns it is important that we address securing both buildings so that we know who is entering our facilities and if they have approval to be in the building. Staff is requesting to install card readers at four locations for each building at a cost of$13,867.75. These locations were chosen for operational efficiency while staying under the $15,000 budgeted amount. L T is requesting to install two card readers, one in each building, for their LT. rooms. The additional'cost for both readers is $3,180,.14 which will be purchased from the LT. operating budget. Staff has attached the low quotes and drawings showing the locations of the card readers for council's review. Card Access Scope of Work: Trans-Alann proposes to extend the cities existing card access system to the existing public works building. This system will include four (4) new card readers located at the doors indicated on the prints. Each of the listed doors will receive a Indalla proximity card reader, V onDuprin electric strike and a latch guard. At the main front entry door the card reader will be installed outside and setup to unlock both the exterior and interior doors. A manual switch will be installed to override the exterior door lock. All card readers will be ran back to a new Multinode controller configured for four card readers. This controller will communicate to the head-end software that is located at the police station via the city network. A lock power supply will also be located at the control panel location. Trans-alarm will provide all necessary parts, wire and labor to provide a fully functional system. Svstem Cost: $7.723.11 Data Room Card Reader Option - This option is to add a card reader on the data room door. An electric door strike will also be added to accommodate the card reader. A 2-DC two door controller will also be added to expand the system capacity to six card readers. Option Cost: $1,590.07 Warranty - Trans-Alann guarantees that its products, equipment and services will be free from defects in materials and workmanship for a period of one (l) year from the date of installation. Trans-Alarm also . guarantees to furnish qualified labor during normal business hours, 8am to Spm Monday-Friday, excluding Holidays to the installation site for a period of one (l) year from the date of installation to repair or replace any defective items installed or provided by Trans-Alann exclusively. A man lift for system installation is included in this quote. . Required work by Customer: Provide II OV AC power at the control panel location. Provide a network drop with a static IP address at the control panellocation. Provide any necessary conduit for a professional installation. Proposal is valid for 30 days from proposal date. .
