Light Truck Purchase d, 4, Memorandum CONSENT CITY OF SHAKOPEE TO: Mayor and Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Gregg Voxland, Finance Director SUBJ: Light Truck Purchase DATE: November 22, 2005 Introduction Council is requested to authorize the purchase of two light trucks as provided in the 2006 budget. Background The 2006 budget contains $70,000 for the purchase of two Ford F550 trucks. Funds are allocated in the Internal Service Fund for this purchase. These trucks are for the Street and Park Departments. Contractor type boxes from previous trucks will be installed on these trucks at approximately $1,500 each for new hydraulic pumps. These trucks will replace two 1998 GMC 3500 trucks. One was sold at auction due to engine problems and the other will be sold at auction next summer also due to engine problems. The Minnesota State contract for these vehicles was awarded as shown below. Staff has just been notified that purchase order cut-off is 12/2/2005. Options listed are as requested by the department and are at manufacturer-to-dealer invoice pricing. Additional cost will be registration and license. Ford F550 4X2 Street and Park Departments Base bid $23,279.80 Contract options: Diesel Engine 3,800.00 PTO Provision 200.00 Trailer Tow Command 184.00 Shop Manual (1) 185.00 Total - Each $27,648.80 Alternatives 1. Buy unit as per above. 2. Modify options. 3. Re-bid unit on our own. 4. Do not buy trucks this year. Recommendation Alternative number 1.
