SUBJECT: Temporary 3.2 Percent Malt Liquor Licenses for Shakopee Jaycee's Inc. during Derby

Action Sought
1. Move to approve the application and grant a temporary on -sale 3.2 percent malt liquor license
to the Shakopee Jaycees, Inc. for the fenced in beer garden (Tent A - near the Stage area) at
Huber Park, on Thursday, August 1, 2013, and Friday, August 2, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to
midnight and the bar being cleared of alcohol by 12:30 a.m., and on Saturday, August 3, 2013,
from 11:00 a.m. to midnight and the bar being cleared of alcohol by 12:30 a.m.; and
2. Move to approve the application and grant a temporary on -sale 3.2 percent malt liquor license
to the Shakopee Jaycee's, Inc. for the fenced in beer garden (Tent B - near Taste of Shakopee
area) at Huber Park, on Thursday, August 1, 2013, and Friday, August 2, 2013, from 5:00 p.m. to
midnight and the bar being cleared of alcohol by 12:30 a.m., and on Saturday, August 3, 2013,
from 11:00 a.m. to midnight and the bar being cleared of alcohol by 12:30 a.m.
Background
Shakopee Jaycees Inc. has made application for temporary on -sale 3.2 percent malt liquor
licenses for Derby Days on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, August 1 through August 3, 2013.
As was done in the past two years, the Jaycees have applied for a license to sell beer from two
locations within Huber Park:
Tent A - near the Stage area
Thursday, August 1st 5:00 pm to midnight
Friday, August 2nd 5:00 pm to midnight
Saturday, August 3rd 11:00 am to midnight
Tent B - near the Taste of Shakopee area
Thursday, August 1st 5:00 pm to midnight
Friday, August 2nd 5:00 pm to midnight
Saturday, August 3rd 11:00 am to midnight
The applications are in order and the certificate of insurance is in order. Chief Tate has been
contacted regarding the applications. He advised that the Police Department has no objections to
the granting of the licenses.
Recommendation
Staff recommends to approve the licenses.
