Resignation of Kim Henke; Promotion of Carrie Duckett; and Authorization to fill the IT Position IS:E.J, CITY OF SHAKOPEE Memorandum CONSE~JT CASE LOG NO.: NA TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: R. Michael Leek, Community Development Director SUBJECT: Acceptance of Resignation of Kim Henke, MIS Coordinator; Appointment of Carrie Duckett to the position of MIS Coordinator; and Authorization to Fill the IT Specialist Position MEETING DATE: October 18, 2005 INTRODUCTION: MIS Coordinator has submitted her resignation from the full-time position of MIS Coordinator effective October 19th (See attached memorandum of October 3,2005). Ms. Henke has offered to work on a part-time basis until the end of October/the time her family relocates to assist with the transition in the IT area. Over the course of Ms. Henke's recent leave, Carrie Duckett took on additional responsibilities, and acquitted herself well in carrying them out. For that reason, I am recommending that Ms. Duckett be promoted to the position of MIS Coordinator effective October 20. Because Ms. Duckett is currently at Step 3 of Pay Grade 6 ($47,194) and will be operating without assistance until the IT Specialist position is filled, I am recommending that she be appointed at Step 2 of Pay Grade LevelS $54,480). I am further requesting the authority to begin the process of filling the IT Specialist position. ACTION REQUESTED: Offer and approve a motion 1) accepting with regret the resignation of MIS Coordinator Kim Henke from full-time employment, 2) changing Kim Henke's employment status to part-time effective October20, 2005 which will entitle her to pro-rated pay and benefits, 3) promoting Carrie Duckett to the position of MIS Coordinator at Pay Grade Level 8, Step 2, effective October 20, 2005, and 4) authorizing the appropriate City officials to take the steps necessary to fill the IT Specialist position. ~:d:h~~ R. Michael Leek TO: Michael Leek FROM: Kim Henke DATE: October 3, 2005 RE: Resignation As you know, my family and I have decided to relocate. At this time, our move date has not been set, but with considerable thought, I have decided to resign my position as MIS Coordinator. ',I am suggesting an effective date of October 19. If, however, you would find it beneficial, I would consider extending my employment after this date, working 'part time', until I relocate. i~~
