U. \!u~~ .., Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Dan Hughes, Chief of Police :;M SUBJECT: Successful Completion of Probation Sergeant Clay Johnson DATE: September 23, 2005 INTRODUCTION: The Police Department is taking this opportunity to notify the City Council that the services of Sergeant Clay Johnson have been satisfactory and recommend that he be retained in the position of Police Sergeant, as authorized by Section VIII, paragraph H-I of the Personnel Handbook. BACKGROUND: The City Council authorized the appointment of Clay Johnson to the position of probationary police sergeant effective April 6, 2005. Sergeant Johnson has performed the responsibilities ofthe position in a satisfactory manner over the past six months. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that Sergeant Clay Johnson be retained in the position of Shako pee Police Sergeant. ACTION REQUESTED: The City Council, if they concur, should by motion acknowledge the satisfactory completion of probation and authorize the retention of Clay Johnson as Police Sergeant effective October 6,2005.
