BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION In March, City Council authorized grant applications for the Quarry Lake project. We submitted applications for the Local Trails Grant and Federal Trails Grant. We were notified that funding in the amount of $92,000 is being recommended to the Federal Highway Administration from the Local Trails Grant program. These reimbursable funds are to be used for trail construction. The grant is a matching grant, and matching funds may be city funds or other sources. At this time, the Quarry Lake committee is pursing other funding sources for matching funds, Projects funded by this grant must be completed by June 30, 2007 or the funds expire, However, as I understand, the DNR may be wiling to extend the deadline given the uniqueness of this project.
