CITY OF SHAKOPEE COf'ijSEr~T
Memorandum
TO: Mayor and City Council
FROM: Mark McNeill, City Administrator
SUBJECT: Final- Shakopee Fire Station Stucco Project
DATE: June 14,2005
INTRODUCTION:
The Council is asked to authorize payment of $3,572.40 to Stephen Donnelly Co. Inc., as
final payment for the Station 50 (Downtown) fire station stucco project.
BACKGROUND:
Last year, in 2004, a contract was awarded to Stephen Donnelly Co. in the amount of
$77,948 to restucco the exterior of the Downtown Fire Station. In addition to the
resurfacing, the contract also included metal flashing and some drainage adjustments.
It was discovered after the work was completed that the contractor used a different
method then what had been specified by the architect. However, after negotiations, it
was determined by the architect to be an "equal". However, to play it safe, the contractor
did agree to extend the warranty on workmanship and product by five years.
BUDGET IMPACT:
The contact amount - $77,948 - has been charged to the building fund.
RECOMMENDATION:
I recommend that the Council authorize payment of$3,572.40 as the final payment on the
Downtown Fire Station stucco project. This is contingent upon receipt of forms from
subcontractors, lien waivers, and a guarantee statement that all invoices have been paid in
full.
ACTION REQUIRED:
I recommend that the Council authorize payment in the amount of $4,572.40, contingent
upon receipt of required documentation.
