Subject: Police Secretary Assignment
Introduction
The Police Department is requesting City Council to approve the assignment of Teri
Scherer to the position of Police Secretary.

The Police Department will experience a vacancy in this position as Patricia Mohrbacher,
. has announced her retirement effective June 16,2005.
The Police Department has followed applicable Civil Service rules relating to this
assignment. Civil Service rule XX subd. A. states: "The transfer of an employee from a
position in one class to another position in the same class, where both positions carry the
same rate of compensation, shall be called "an assignment."
Civil Service rule XX subd. B. states: "An assignment may be made by the Chief, who
may assign such employees as are qualified by ability and experience to such posts, tasks
and duties as are necessary for the efficient operation of the department."
Teri Scherer has met all the requirements of the assignment and her appointment will be
effective June 17,2005.
Bud2et Impact
This is a budgeted position and both employees are at the same pay grade.
Action ReQuested
If Council concurs, they should, by motion approve the assignment ofTeri Scherer to the
position of Police Secretary.
