Subject: Acceptance of Knights of Columbus Donation,
Resolution No, 6257
INTRODUCTION
City Council is asked to adopt Resolution No, 6257, a resolution of the City of Shakopee,
Minnesota, accepting a $1013,08 donation from the Knights of Columbus.
BACKGROUND AND DISCUSSION
The City has received a donation from the Knights of Columbus to help fund the
operation of the Enigma Teen Center. The donation would support the purchasing of
equipment for the teen center, including the recent stage replacement project.
The Teen Advisory Board members of Enigma volunteered their time and worked with
the Knights of Columbus at the Euchremania II event held in February. Members helped
with tasks and also ran a silent auction,
The City of Shakopee appreciates the generosity of the Knights of Columbus for this
donation, which helps support the City's parks and recreation services,
The City's donation policy requires a 2/3 vote to accept cash donations over $1,000.
REQUESTED ACTION
If City Council concurs, it should, by motion adopt Resolution No. 6257, a resolution of
the City of Shakopee, Minnesota, accepting a $1013.08 donation from the Knights of
Columbus,
RESOLUTION NO. 6257
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA
ACCEPTING A DONATION OF $1013.08 FROM THE KNIGHTS OF
COLUMBUS
WHEREAS, on November 6, 2002, the City Council adopted Resolution
No. 5794, which established procedure relating to the receipt of gifts and
donations by the City; and
WHEREAS, Resolution No 5794 specifies that donations of real property
shall be accepted by resolution of the City Council, and shall require a two-thirds
majority of the Council for acceptance; and
WHEREAS, THE KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS have generously donated
$1013.08 from proceeds of the Euchremania II event to support the Enigma Teen
Center;and
WHEREAS, such a donation will help improve park facilities and enhance
the overall quality of like in Shakopee.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the donation of $1013.08 from
the Knights of Columbus is gratefully accepted; and
FURTHER, the money shall be used in the City's teen center facility,
which is consistent with the wishes of the donor.
FURTHER, the City staff is directed to send a letter to the donor,
acknowledging receipt of the gift and expressing the appreciation of the City
Council.

Dear Knights of Columbus,
On behalf of the Shakopee City Council and the residents of Shakopee, I would like to
thank you for the cash donation for use in our teen center facility. This donation raised
from proceeds of the Euchremania II event will help us reach our goal of constructing a
permanent stage and will provide outstanding opportunities for the teens of Shakopee
and surrounding communities,
