J.C,
CITY OF SHAKOPEE
Memorandum
TO: Mayor & City Council
Mark McNeill, City Administrator
FROM: Bruce Loney, Public Works Director
SUBJECT: City-County Transportation Issues
DATE: June 7, 2005
This memo is intended to outline some of the issues with transportation between the City
of Shakopee and Scott County for possible discussion at a joint meeting on June 7, 2005.
The following items that are major issues for City and County transportation would be as
follows:
Funding of County road improvements as the City and County move forward and
in particular the growing shortfall of funds available for roadway projects.
Timing of improvements to fit City development timelines, an example would be
CSAH 17 project shown in 2012. The hospital has indicated a need to close St.
Francis Avenue and build Valley View Road at a quicker timeline than shown in
the County's Transportation Plan.
A review of traffic congestion areas, such as Vierling Drive and CSAH 17, and
other intersections on County roads for safety consideration.
Continued cooperation on sharing of resources such as equipment and personnel
for the betterment of the County and City.
This concludes my list of items for possible discussion for the joint meeting with the
County and City on June 7, 2005.
