CITY OF SHAKOPEE CO'~SE~r~ ..l'" ~~ J Memorandum TO: Mayor and Council Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Gregg Voxland, Finance Director SUBJ: Pick-up Purchase DATE: March 9, 2004 Introduction The 2004 Internal Service Fund budget contains appropriations for two light trucks. Background The 2004 budget contains $30,000 for a full size pickup with snow equipment for the Park Department and $50,000 for a 1.5 ton truck with utility box for the Street Department. The second truck is an addition to the fleet, would be used for sign maintenance and will be purchased later in the year. Addressed in this memo is only the purchase of the first truck, not including sales tax, fees, delivery or attachments such as the snowplow. Funds are allocated in the Internal Service Fund for this purchase. This truck for the Park Department would replace a 1984 Chevrolet truck that had been passed down from the Fire Department. The Minnesota State contract for this vehicle was awarded as shown below. Options listed are as requested by the department and are at manufacturer-to-dealer invoice pricing. Pickup 4x4 1 ton Park = contract cost $17,227.00 Contract options: Snow Plow Prep Package 59.00 Towing Package 0.00 Receiver Hitch 149.00 Bed-liner 175.00 Shop Manual 75.00 Total $17,685.00 Alternatives l. Buy unit as per above. 2. Modify options. 3 . Re-bid unit on our own. 4. Do not buy truck this year. Reconunendation Alternative number 1. Action Requested Move to authorize the purchase of a 1 ton 4x4 pickup from Superior Ford in the amount of $17,685.00 in accordance with Minnesota State light truck contract #432185 . 17u# Greg..
