Action Sought
The City Council is asked to accept, with regret, the resignation of Deputy City Clerk Jeanette Shaner, effective
June 28, 2013 and adopt Resolution No. 7315, a resolution of appreciation for her many years of service and
contributions to the City of Shakopee.
Background
Jeanette Shaner began working for the City of Shakopee in September of 1980. She recently submitted notice of
her intent to retire, effective June 28. During her thirty-two and a half years of service to the City, Jeanette served
as the City Hall Receptionist, Secretary for the Administration, Building and City Clerk departments and most
recently as the Deputy City Clerk.
A resolution of appreciation for Jeanette's service will be on the table for adoption Tuesday evening.
Relationship to Vision
Jeanette's service to the City has epitomized the "delivery of effective and efficient public services by a staff of
well - trained, caring and professional employees." (Goal E).
Requested Action
The Council is asked to accept, with regret, the resignation of Jeanette Shaner from the position of Deputy City
Clerk, effective June 28, 2013 and to offer Resolution No. 7315, a resolution of appreciation for Jeanette Shaner,
and move its adoption.

A RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION TO
Jeanette M. Shaner
WHEREAS, Jeanette M. Shaner was hired by the City of Shakopee for the position of City
Hall Receptionist on September 2, 1980;
WHEREAS, Jeanette subsequently served as Secretary to the City Administrator, Building
Department Secretary and Secretary for the City Clerk's Office; and
WHEREAS,Jeanette was promoted to the position of Deputy City Clerk on January 1,
2002, and has continued to serve in that role for the past eleven and a half years; and
WHEREAS, during her thirty-two and a half years of employment, Jeanette has taken on a
wide-range of responsibilities in service to the public and her fellow City employees and
has consistently performed each with integrity, professionalism and commitment, and
WHEREAS, in her current role,Jeanette has been specifically responsible for effective and
efficient operation of the City's licensing function and essential to the City's
administration ofthe election process; and
WHEREAS,Jeanette's many contributions have allowed the City to provide excellent
customer service, prompt response to citizens and timely information for Councils,
Boards and Commissions and the public at large; and
WHEREAS, Jeanette has submitted notice of her resignation for reason of retirement;
NOW,THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE,
MINNESOTA, that it hereby accepts with regret the resignation of Deputy City Clerk
Jeanette M. Shaner, effective June 28, 2013; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE,
MINNESOTA, expresses its deep appreciation for Jeanette's many contributions to the
City and extends to her its best wishes for a long and happy retirement.
Adopted in adjourned regular session of the City Council of the City of Shakopee,
Minnesota, held this eighteenth day of June, 2013.
