Mark McNeill, City Administrator FROM: Captain Craig Robson c.JL SUBJECT: Request to accept Target donation by Resolution No. 6565 DATE: January 10,2007 INTRODUCTION: The Shakopee Police Department is offering Resolution No. 6565, to accept the donation of 12 gently used Dell computers and 12 monitors from Target. BACKGROUND: Target is committed to partnering with the public sector through their Target and Blue program, a program that actively supports law enforcement agencies to build stronger, safer COmmunities. Target has donated 12 gently used Dell computers and 12 monitors to the Shakopee Police Department. Our IT Department has evaluated the computers and considers them-acceptable for use on our network. Our implementation plan is to deploy the majority ofthe computers in the Emergency Operation Center (EOC). VISIONING RELATIONSIDP This action supports: Goal B: High Quality of Life Strategy 6: Provide high quality services Strategy 10: Ensure City's fiscal health ALTERNATIVES; 1. Offer Resolution No. 6565. 2. Do not offer Resolution No. 6565. \ 3. Table and provide direction to staff. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends alternatiy~ #,1. 1 ACTION REQUESTED: If council concurs, offer Resolution, No. 6565, A Resolution of the City of Shakopee, Minnesota, accepting 12 gently used Dell computers and 12 monitors and move its adoption. 2 RESOLUTION NO. 6565 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, ACCEPTING THE DONATION OF TWELVE DELL COMPUTERS AND TWELVE MONITORS FROM TARGET. WHEREAS, on November 6, 2002, the City Council adopted Resolution No. 5794, which established procedure relating to the receipt of gifts and donations by the City; and WHEREAS, Resolution No. 5794 specifies that donations valued over $1,000 shall be accepted by resolution of the City Council, and shall require a two-thirds majority of the City Council for acceptance; and WHEREAS, Target is committed to partnering with the public sector through their Target and Blue program, a program that actively supports law enforcement agencies to build stronger, safer communities; and WHEREAS, Target has graciously donated twelve gently used Dell computers and twelve monitors to the Shakopee Police Department. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SHAKOPEE, MINNESOTA, that the donation of twelve gently used Dell Computers and twelve monitors from Target is gratefully accepted.
